Wellbeing
Taking Care of Our United Family
We are very excited to announce a new Committee position to United GC Netball Club in 2023
The Wellbeing Officer will support our coaches, umpires, players, families, and volunteers during, and outside of, the netball season. We understand the struggles some of our members may have with mental wellbeing that may impact their enjoyment of the game. We also recognise that we need to support our junior umpires and coaches to ensure we nurture their development for the years to come.
The Wellbeing Officer supports improved health and wellbeing and creates an environment where all members can confidently seek out help and advice.

Hi, I’m Tessa – Your United GC Wellbeing Officer
I’m an accredited Mental Health First Aid Officer, a Wellbeing Officer, and an accredited
Practitioner of Coaching, specialising in mindset, confidence and wellbeing. I love what I do; helping people who are struggling within, who needs a little support, a friendly face
and someone who is present and will listen wholeheartedly.
Being a mum of three girls, all who play netball for many years, I’ve seen a lot of ups and
downs with my own girls, and throughout the netball community. The impacts that
situations can have on players, coaches, umpires, managers, volunteers, and family
members, to the detriment of not enjoying the sport of netball and leaving a sport they
used to love.
Netball can be stressful, and if I can support and guide our members to continue to love
the game, then we have won the wellbeing game.
You’ll see me at every training evening and game day, either watching my girls play or
being available for anybody that wishes to speak with me. If these times don’t suit you,
reach out to wellbeing@unitedgcnetball.com.au to organise a suitable time. We can
meet in person or over online means, whatever suits you better.
For emergency situations please ring 000
Come and say hello, I’ll be the one in the Wellbeing shirt, and reach out when/if you need
to, I am here to support you!
Tessa xx

What is Wellbeing?
A state of Wellbeing enables people to cope with the stresses of everyday life, realise their abilities, learn well and work well, and contribute to their community.
Health and wellbeing underpins our individual and collective abilities to make decisions, build relationships and shape the world we live in.
What does a Wellbeing Officer do?
The Wellbeing Officer supports our coaches, umpires, players, families, and volunteers during, and outside of, the netball season. Our primary focus is ensuring our players learn the many benefits of being in a sports team – develop self-esteem, communication, and teamwork skills.
The Wellbeing Officer will support every person who is part of the United GC Netball Club. We understand the struggles some of our members may have with mental wellbeing that may impact their enjoyment of the game. We also recognise that we need to support our junior umpires and coaches to ensure we nurture their development for the years to come.
The Wellbeing Officer supports improved health and wellbeing and creates an environment where members can confidently seek out help and advice.
What are the Responsibilities of a Wellbeing Officer?
- Be a point of contact for club members experiencing emotional or psychological difficulties whilst maintaining confidentiality. Confidentiality may be broken if the Wellbeing Officer is concerned that any individual may harm themselves or someone else.
- To provide mental health first aid assistance with reasonable care.
- Offer initial support to the member; identify and provide information about support services available to provide ongoing support and how to access them.
- Identify educational opportunities to improve wellbeing, resilience, and personal growth within the club.
- Work with coaches to implement wellbeing initiatives or respond to concerns raised.
- Contribute to the creation of a healthy club environment that promotes good health and wellbeing.
- Support the promotion of diversity and inclusion across the club.
- Act as a point of contact for support staff, volunteers, parents, children, and young people where they are concerned about another member’s wellbeing.
- Provide articles, educational information to members of the club and families, via social media platforms.
What is the process?
If you don’t feel comfortable approaching the Wellbeing Officer in person, then please reach out to her email address wellbeing@cmznjhmc.dreamwp.com. Tessa will actively review her emails and will reach out to you by your preferred method. Just let Tessa know how you wish for her to reach out.
A suitable date/time, for both parties, will be made. You can request your meeting in person, or via online means (like Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams), as we know how busy with life, we can all be.
The meeting will generally go for 45 minutes, however if you are needing more time, that is OK, ensuring you are taken care of is Tessa’s number one priority.
If follow up meetings are recommended, they will generally be held every fortnight at the same place, time, day. Again, if we need to meet more regularly then this can be accommodated too.
If you can’t make it to your meeting, please contact Tessa straight away, to reschedule your appointment.
